Last weekend we had a socially distanced…Covid aware ..workshop with the required small number of people…
Georgina took us all on a journey to look at the Mayan Calendar. She had actually been to the remains of an observatory and seen the almost complete remaining calendar.I didn’t realise how large they were,and that the stone sections could be rotated In both directions for making calculations. The mathematics was extraordinarily advanced
and predictions could be calculated hundreds of years ahead. Sadly the Conquistadors destroyed just about everything they could but one calendar ..not quite complete..
survived. We finished the day by making our own calendars
which look good…but the calculations will just be a dream I’m afraid .!
